What's the difference between the two bumpers?

The top bumper is an OEM bumper, the bumper on the bottom is the closest a non-OEM bumper can come.  The difference is far more than aesthetic.  The lack of the "HUMMER" is a dead giveaway that the vehicle has been in a collision.  It also signals to a potential purchaser that the bumper may not be as sturdy as a true HUMMER bumper.  It also raises questions as to how well the bumper was reattached.  Note that many insurers take the position that they do not even owe you a bumper with latches or trailer hookups.  Insurance adjusters frequently state that "all they owe the claimant is a bumper that fits."

Why should this matter to me? I don't own a HUMMER.

HUMMER, or GM for that matter is not the only only manufacturer placing their logos or brandname on parts subject to replacement after collisions.  The practice of placing brand images on frequently replaced body parts is increasing and crosses over manufacturers and model lines.

The examples are endless, our server space is not...
